Doris Ogala, Nollywood actress and African Action Congress, AAC, governorship candidate for Abia State in the 2027 election, was caught in a clash in a Lagos Federal High Court courtroom shortly before she was remanded at Ikoyi Prison.
In a video circulating on social media, Ogala accused her boyfriend, Pastor Chris Okafor, of allegedly attempting to weaponise the law against her.
“A court is a place that allows the common man to speak. My boyfriend wants to weaponise the law against me,” she said.
Ogala was seen gesturing as she spoke in the courtroom, with the exchange reportedly taking place shortly before her remand over allegations of cyberbullying linked to Okafor.
The development was also addressed by the AAC in a statement published on its official X handle on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
In the statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Rex I. Elanu, the party condemned the reported court order remanding its Abia governorship candidate.
The party described the development as an attack on democratic participation and the fundamental freedoms of Nigerians.
“The African Action Congress (AAC) vehemently condemns the reported court order by Justice A. Aluko of the Federal High Court, Lagos, directing the remand of our Abia State gubernatorial candidate, Doris Ogala, over allegations of cyberbullying one Pastor Chris Okafor,” the statement read.
The AAC also criticised the Cybercrime Act, alleging that it had become an instrument used by influential individuals and law enforcement authorities to silence dissent and criminalise free expression.
The party further raised concerns about possible political interference in the case, citing rumours linking the development to Ogala’s political opposition to Abia State Governor Alex Otti.
However, the AAC acknowledged that the allegations of political interference required proper investigation.
It called on the Nigerian Police to demonstrate that they serve the public interest rather than influential individuals or undisclosed political interests.
The party also urged Justice Aluko and other judicial officers to uphold impartiality and integrity, insisting that the judiciary must protect citizens’ rights.
“The AAC Party will resist every attempt to weaponise state institutions against our candidates and our movement through all lawful and democratic means,” the statement added.
The party demanded due process, respect for Ogala’s fundamental rights, an impartial investigation into any credible allegations of political interference, and the repeal of the Cybercrime Act.
