Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has called for the immediate release of the State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Sunday Bisi.

Condemning the continued detention of the PDP Chair, Adeleke, in a statement issued on Saturday by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, expressed concern as voting continued in the Osun governorship election.

The governor stated that Bisi was detained at his residence in Ilesa shortly after returning from voting and was taken to an undisclosed location without explanation.

Adeleke alleged that the arrest was an attempt to intimidate his supporters and accused the APC of collaborating with compromised security officials to hinder monitoring of the election results.

“This crackdown on my supporters is part of a broader plan to manipulate the results at collation centres and overturn our victories,” Adeleke said.

He described the alleged interference with the collation process as an assault on democracy and urged involved parties to refrain from using state institutions to influence the election outcome.

Adeleke demanded the immediate release of Bisi and other individuals he labelled as political prisoners across Osun State.

“Elections should be about the people freely choosing their representatives without threats or violence,” he emphasised.
