A Nigerian university, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), in Ile-Ife, Osun State, has announced 1 November as the resumption date for newly admitted students for the 2026/2027 academic session.

According to a statement issued by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olarewaju, online registration for fresh students will begin on 2 November, while their orientation programme will run from 2 to 6 November.

The orientation, according to the statement, is designed to familiarise new students with the university’s academic environment, rules, traditions and expectations. It will also prepare students for the responsibilities and opportunities associated with university life.

OAU schedules ICT training, lectures

The university has scheduled Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training for fresh students from 9 to 13 November.

The training is expected to equip them with digital skills and familiarise them with the university’s ICT facilities and platforms to support their academic activities.

Returning undergraduate students are expected to resume on campus on 15 November, ahead of the commencement of lectures on 16 November.

The university management urged new and returning students to comply with the announced schedule to ensure a smooth start to the academic session.

It also called on parents, guardians and other stakeholders to support students as they prepare to return to campus.

The Vice Chancellor, Adebayo Bamire, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for teaching, learning, research and character development.
