How pensioners can apply for PTAD’s health insurance scheme

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate has opened registration for its health benefit programme for eligible Federal Defined Benefits Scheme pensioners.

The registration is being conducted through the PTAD Health Insurance Scheme online portal, where pensioners can complete their enrolment and access the healthcare benefit.

In a post on its X handle on Friday, PTAD posted, “Dear Federal DBS Pensioners, Registration is now open. Visit https://phis.ptad.gov.ng to register and access this important health benefit”

To register, eligible pensioners are required to visit the official PHIS portal and log in using their PTAD pension number and surname.

First-time users are required to complete an identity verification process, including taking a live selfie with a smartphone equipped with a front-facing camera.

Applicants are also expected to provide relevant personal information, including their address, emergency contact, next-of-kin details and preferred hospital. Pensioners are encouraged to provide their National Identification Number where available.

After completing the required information, applicants can submit their enrolment for processing. PTAD says approved applicants will receive notification by SMS and email, together with information on how to access their National Health Insurance Authority card.

The health benefit provides eligible pensioners with access to healthcare through NHIA-approved hospitals and health facilities across Nigeria.

The scheme is specifically for eligible pensioners and is not transferable to spouses, dependants or caregivers.
